How we research & update

Honest about our process: rules from primary sources, cost ranges compiled from published industry data and clearly labelled, and corrections when readers flag them.

Last reviewed: October 2026

Where our information comes from

Renovation rules come from primary sources \u2014 HDB's renovation guidelines and terms, BCA, the Energy Market Authority (EMA) and the Consumers Association of Singapore (CASE / CaseTrust). Each rule-based page shows its sources and the date we last checked them.

How we handle cost ranges

Singapore has no official renovation price list, so cost figures are illustrative ranges compiled from published industry sources (for example, interior-design marketplaces that aggregate real project costs). We label them as estimates, name the source and its date, and never present them as a quote. See Renovation costs for how each range is built.

How pages are produced

Our content is produced by an automated research-and-writing pipeline and reviewed by automated checks (source presence, figure formatting, internal-link validity, length limits) before publishing. We are telling you this plainly: a human does not hand-review every single page. We do not publish a figure that is not tied to a cited source.

How often we update

Rule-based pages are reviewed when the underlying rule changes and at least once a quarter. Cost ranges are reviewed quarterly, because they track an industry range rather than a fixed rate. The "Updated" date on each page reflects its last change.

Corrections
